Definition & Size This type of rim is designed for 12.5/80-18 (also known as 320/80-18) tires commonly used on backhoe loaders and similar heavy equipment. The "12.5" indicates the tire's cut-off width in inches, "80" is the aspect ratio, or height-to-width, of the tire, and "18" is the rim diameter in inches. These rims are designed to fit 18-inch rims and tires of this size to ensure precise tire installation on the machine. Technical Characteristics & Structure These rims are typically made of carbon steel or a strong alloy and are designed to withstand the loads and mechanical forces of backhoe loader operations—such as loading and lifting, pulling, earthmoving, and maneuvering on the construction site. The internal rim width is adjusted to ensure a proper and stable footprint for the 12.5/80-18 tire. The bolt holes and hub pattern of the rim are matched to the standard wheel axles on the backhoe loader, ensuring a secure and precise installation. Advantages & Functions This rim provides optimum structural support for the backhoe loader's wheels: it keeps the tires securely mounted, distributes the load evenly across the axle, and maintains wheel alignment and stability during heavy-duty operations. With the correct size and construction, the wheels will roll more reliably and the loader will operate more efficiently. This rim also helps maintain wheel geometry, maximizes tire life, and improves overall performance. Ideal Application This rim is ideal for backhoe loaders equipped with 12.5/80-18 tires. It is ideal for use in construction projects, quarries, light mining, or material handling activities where backhoe loaders frequently operate. Ensuring the correct size of the rim and tire is crucial for optimal wheel system performance and operator stability and comfort while maneuvering and working in the field.
